Just For Laughs

Just for Laughs hires one freelance photographer a year for its PR department, and in 2017 that was me. Six days, two to five shows a night, and two red carpets, including the JFL Awards where I was named the priority shooter. The brief asked for performance work plus candid backstage pictures the team could shop to media as photo exclusives. Every night I colour-corrected selects and uploaded them so the team could push them to newspaper, online and TV assignment desks before morning. Red-carpet work is portraiture under pressure, a few seconds and hard light per name. The archive runs from Jim Carrey to Kevin Hart.
