Common questions

Can you shoot photos and video on the same production?

Yes. One director and one crew handle both, so the photos and the video share one look. That keeps the campaign consistent everywhere it runs.

What does brand video production include?

Concept, script, direction, the shoot, and the edit, owned by one person. Music, colour and sound are handled through to final delivery. The same person directs the photos and the video, so the brand looks the same in both.

Do we need a production company or a videographer?

Both come from the same production house. When the day needs one videographer, that is me: directing, shooting and editing from brief to delivery. A larger production adds a crew I brief and direct: a second camera, a gimbal or a licensed drone operator. Contracts and invoices run through Origine Strategic Studio Inc., my studio in Montréal, so an agency producer books one supplier for the whole production.

How does the timeline run, from booking to the finished video?

A week of lead time covers most single evenings, once the event schedule and key moments are shared. Two to four weeks covers most brand films and campaigns, with room for concept, casting and locations. The first photos and a first edit arrive within 24 hours when the deadline is tight. You review and comment online in Frame.io, and full delivery follows within one week unless the project needs longer.

How do usage rights work?

Usage is agreed up front by territory, medium and duration, in the terms procurement teams use. The brand gets the rights the launch actually needs, with no surprises afterward. I have priced usage this way since 2022.

Do you make testimonial, event and promotional video?

Yes. Customer stories and testimonial films are directed like a conversation, then edited into a full version and a short version, as HR Path's success story was. Conference and corporate event videos include the interviews, the stage and a short recap. Promotional video for marketing and social media is edited in vertical 9:16 for Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, as TAG Heuer's Grand Prix reel was. The edit goes to the brand for approval before it runs anywhere; the IWC recap film went to Mercedes.

Do you travel outside Montréal?

Yes, often. I am in Montréal and London all the time, and productions run wherever the brand needs them.

Do you direct interviews in English and French?

Yes. Both languages are directed natively on set rather than subtitled after the fact, so each market hears its own voice. Québec French and English get their own takes. The interview is directed like a conversation, aimed at the person rather than the message. The questions are prepared, the answers never are. Sound and light are handled on site, at your office or a venue near it.
